Happy Belated Halloween Everyone! I haven’t been online the past few days due to family activities. Boy were those black cupcakes good and we had fun making our “fangy” jack-o-latern. I’ll make sure to take pictures and post them!

I really bombed last week. It was practically my worst week ever. Every once in a while this happens, but I am beefing up my picks for later today. Feel free to leave your own picks in the comment area. There were some big surprises last week (who knew Arizona could beat Dallas? Sure seems like Dallas has some kind of bad luck charm!), but this upcoming week isn’t nearly as unpredictable. At least, I like to think so.
Week One NFL Football Picks - 5-11
Week Two NFL Footbal Picks - 7-8
Week Three NFL Football Picks - 9-7
Week Four NFL Football Picks - 8-5
Week Six NFL Football Picks - 6-8
Here are my picks for this week. Honestly, there should be no big surprises as to who wins what game here. The biggest games that might go either way are San Diego vs. Buffalo (Buffalo has a habit of surprising in the most unlikely of wins), Carolina vs. New Orleans (with the way Drew Brees has been playing NOLA should be shoo in to win though), Baltimore vs. Miami (I believe Miami has that win in them), and Indianapolis vs. Green Bay (try to pick which one sucks the least - same with Cleveland vs. Washington).
Shock winners would be Detroit, Minnesota, and New England.
The win I’d laugh the most about would be: St. Louis. It seems like Romo just ain’t always on his game, but St. Louis stinks, so a win by them would make Dallas a laughing stock.

San Diego Chargers vs. Buffalo Bills
Winner: San Diego
Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears
Winner: Chicago
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Winner: Pittsburgh
Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Winner: Tennessee
Dallas Cowboys vs. St. Louis Rams
Winner: Dallas
Baltimore Ravens vs. Miami Dolphins
Winner: Miami

Okay, the real reason my posts are so slow is because I’m working on a re-design for this website. I know I should try to get a few more posts up, but come next week, this won’t be an issue. I’ve missed discussing the Tigers woes, my opinion on Rich Rodriguez and my Wolverines, and the decline of the overrated Ohio State Buckeyes. Have no fear my fellow readers…
I (and my commentary) will soon be back with all the sarcastic wit an snarkiness you love to hate.
That being said, I was disappointed with my:
Week One NFL Football Picks where I went 5-11
Week Two was better when I went 7-8
Now, on to my week three picks. I hope you enjoy them and please feel free to post your own picks in my comment section! I’m looking to award a gift of some sort to the person who posts the most accurate picks this NFL season, so to win that prize, get posting!
Sunday, September 21, 2008
Carolina vs. Minnesota
Winner: Carolina
While Carolina almost didn’t make it last week, I’m sticking with em!
Kansas City vs. Atlanta
I’m betting my money at Atlanta. The Chiefs suck and Atlanta has seen some success with their QB pick, Matt Ryan.
Winner: Atlanta
Oakland vs. Buffalo
I underestimated both Buffalo and Oakland last week. Buffalo beat a semi-decent team while Oakland took on another sucky team. Guess who wins?
Winner: Buffalo
Tampa Bay vs. Chicago
Tough pick considering both seem to be mediocre teams.
Winner: Chicago
Houston vs. Tennessee
Though I don’t like either teams, this one is a no-brainer.
Winner: Tennessee
Cincinnati vs. NY Giants
I’d love for the Bengals to prove me wrong, but I’m going with the “smart” choice.
Winner: NY Giants
Miami vs. New England
The Patriots managed to hang on for just long enough to win without Tom Brady the last game, but their luck will run out when they face the Chads.
Winner: Miami

I know I’m almost a day late and a dollar short, but the games haven’t begun yet. I had a busy week. I apologize and promise to start posting with more frequency soon. I’m working on an overhaul for this site, so expect many new things cropping up in the next few weeks.
That being said, let’s get to my picks!
Note: I don’t have much time to write about each team. Just know I haven’t underestimated those teams that made something of themselves last week.
Sunday, Sep 14
Tennessee vs Cincinnati
Winner: Cincinnati
Buffalo vs Jacksonville
Winner: Jacksonville
Oakland vs Kansas City
Winner: Kansas City
Indianapolis vs Minnesota
Winner: Indianapolis

It’s about that time for the NFL regular season to begin. In fact, it begins tomorrow. As always, I’m here to present my picks for this week. Feel free to leave your picks, as well
Thursday, Sep 4
Washington vs. NY Giants
This is an interesting one. I like Mario Manningham. He played for the Wolverines, but he’s been out and Manning has suffered for it. Manning has a lot to prove, and Washington went 3-5 in the pre-season. If Eli’s backup is still out, which they might just be, Washington has this one nailed.
Winner: Washington
Sunday, Sep 7
Cincinnati vs Baltimore
Winner: If Troy Smith is starting or if Troy Smith isn’t starting Baltimore is still going to lose. The former nut (OSU Buckeye) isn’t having as much success at starting in the NFL as his former Wolverine opponent, Miami Dolphin’s Chad Henne. So, I wonder what Troy’s busy doing with that Heisman? Maybe he’s using it as a paperweight!
Winner: Cincinnati
NY Jets vs Miami
With the improved offensive players, (Chad and Jake have great chemistry and play great together) including two solid Chads in the QB position I’m thinking Miami just might win this week! Here’s hoping after their hard work during the pre-season it can pay off during the reg. season.
Winner: Miami
Kansas City vs New England
I think that Tom Brady is going to be back. It’s crappy that Tom’s the only one who can make the plays, but thems the breaks. If he’s in its a Patriots win.
Winner: New England
Houston vs Pittsburgh
This is a tough one considering Pittsburgh actually lost to Buffalo in the pre-season. Otherwise, they seem to be doing okay and Houston is just doing so-so so far.
Winner: Pittsburgh
Jacksonville vs Tennessee
With Collier out fighting for his life, the Jags are either gonna be on the ball, playing for him with conviction or will be totally distracted. This is pure emotion on my part, but I’m giving it to them.

In previous reports by the Miami Dolphins, the team mentioned that Josh McCown and John Beck would be competing for the starting position as QB for the Miami Dolphins. While Chad Henne was listed as a 2008 NFL draft selection there was little mention as to whether the former Michigan record breaker would be given the chance to start for the Dolphins.
Now, as the Dolphins started their three day mini-camp today, Chad Henne is competing with McCown and Beck for the spot as starting quarterback. While there isn’t much mention of the rookie, Henne, and how he is doing, Coach Tony Sparano alluded to the fact that all three of the QB’s were doing well and showing what they’re made of on the field.
“Each day I go out here, I see another guys kind of step up. It hasn’t been a consistent progression right now. … I like their grasp - all three of them - quite honestly, I like their grasp of the offense. They are working real hard at it. Last week wasn’t a week of practice, but they were in here spending extra time and learning what we are doing and getting ready to go for this week and it shows when they are out there on the field.”

It was a big past two days for six former Michigan Wolverines. With ten Wolverines listing themselves as eligible for the draft, six of them have been chosen in the seven round draft. Out of 252 newly drafted NFL players, six of them played for Michigan last year. The ten who applied for the draft were Jamar Adams, Adrian Arrington, Shawn Crable, Brandent Englemon, Chris Graham, Mike Hart, Chad Henne, Adam Kraus, Jake Long and Mario Manningham.
The first pick of the NFL draft went to Jake Long. Long was the first man to join a newly reformed Miami Dolphins team. The 6 ft 7, 313 lbs. Offensive Tackle was announced as the first pick of the draft four days before the draft officially began, so his selection was no big surprise. It was the rest of the Wolverines who would have to wait a surprisingly long time to find out who would be the second to go that were chosen by unpredictable teams.
While Jake Long wasn’t viewed as the best overall pick of the draft, he is filling in a position the Dolphins, the worst team of the 2007 NFL season, needed filled. Long is a competent offensive blocker and seeing as he has experience playing with the Dolphins’ newest quarterback, he’ll know exactly how to cover him in order to be successful on the field.
Speaking of QBs, the second Wolverine to go also went to the Dolphins. The choice of Chad Henne as a QB was to be expected after Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco and Brian Brohm went to Atlanta, Baltimore and Green Bay. I have to say that if Henne went to one of the four teams I’m glad he went to the Dolphins. They can use a dependable QB with a strong arm and the confidence Henne possesses that led him to the Rose Bowl in his freshman year at Michigan.
